Torri Jacobus-Henrietta Pettijohn Honoree

Torri Jacobus is the head of the City of Albuquerque’s Office of Civil Rights and Managing Assistant City Attorney in the Office of the City Attorney. She is expanding the City’s initiatives related to documenting and addressing reported civil rights violations. Additionally, she provides legal guidance to the City of Albuquerque in an effort to develop, promote, and implement policies that reflect the City’s commitment to equity and inclusion. Before joining the City of Albuquerque, Torri served as the Director of the Center for Self Help and Dispute Resolution for the Second Judicial District Court where she further developed and managed the settlement facilitation program, arbitration program, and services to self-represented litigants in the largest court in New Mexico. 

Torri serves on several Boards and Commissions focused on increasing equity in the legal profession and in the community. She serves as Chair of the recently established New Mexico Supreme Court Commission on Equity and Justice with the charge to study issues related to race and bias in the state’s justice system and promote diversity among judges and judicial employees. Torri also serves on the New Mexico Board of Bar Examiners, as Vice-President of the New Mexico Black Lawyers Association, on the Board of Directors of the University of Arkansas Law Alumni Society, and as Chair of the City of Albuquerque Domestic Violence Task Force. She is a past president of the Junior League of Albuquerque. 

Originally from Louisiana, Torri earned her bachelor's degree from Xavier University of Louisiana, a master's degree from the University of Tulsa, and graduated from the University of Arkansas School of Law. When not working, Torri can be found with family or enjoying a novel.

Svitlana Anderson- Rising Star Award

Svitlana Anderson is an Associate Attorney at Peacock Law P.C. where she handles trademark, copyright, and other intellectual property matters. Svitlana’s practice focuses on domestic/foreign trademark and brand protection and enforcement, all aspects of copyright law, including protection, licensing, enforcement, and entertainment law. Prior to earning her U.S. J.D. from University of New Mexico School of Law (2016), Svitlana was educated in Ukraine, where she attended college and her first law school, receiving her Ukrainian J.D. in 2002 from Odesa National Academy of Law. Svitlana is the Chair of the Intellectual Property Section of the NM State Bar and a proud mommy of 18-months-old twins.”
