The University of New Mexico School of Law invites applications for a Manager, Student & Career

Services to oversee and coordinate the day-to-day activities and operations of all programs and projects conducted by the Law School's Student Affairs & Career Strategies office. Provides professional,operational,and administrative oversight to the various activities of the office, to include assisting current UNM law students and alumni by identifying their interests and areas of strengths as attorneys,preparing graduating law students for the bar exam and for job candidacy within the legal sector, providing professional development resources, and providing assistance on student wellness issues,academic grievances, externships,and student organization issues. May serve as liaison or oversee staff who liaise between the office and potential employers, provides outreach to the community, and represents the office to university and external entities. This position reports directly to the Law School Vice Dean.

Minimum

As a Law School senior manager, participates in development, implementation and maintenance of policies,objectives, short-and long-range planning;develops and implements projects and programs to assist in accomplishment of established goals. The successful candidate will have: leadership skills, mentorship skills, skill in examining and re-engineering operations and procedures, formulating policy, and developing and implementing new strategies and procedures; knowledge and understanding of law school graduate advisement principles and procedures; ability to supervise and train employees, to include organizing, prioritizing,and scheduling work assignments; ability to foster a cooperative work environment; employee development and performance management skills; strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community; knowledge of fiscal management principles and procedures; and advanced verbal and written communication skills.The position requires significant specialized knowledge and understanding of a law school community and its functions. The ability to interact and communicate professionally and respectfully with a diverse constituency and population is essential. Must occasionally work evenings and weekends.

Master's degree;at least 5 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Qualifications Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications

- Juris Doctor degree from an ABA accredited law school strongly preferred - Significant supervisory experience and experience providing guidance to and mentoring law students - Familiarity with, and professional ties to, the New Mexico judiciary and legal community - Experience providing guidance to or mentoring law students - Excellent written, customer service, and interpersonal communication skills

Exempt $4738.93 - $7750.00 Monthly DOE This is a benefits eligible position.
